Daniel Aloysius King is a self-taught nylon string acoustic guitarist. A native of Batavia, NY, Daniel left his hometown in 2014 to live in Puerto Rico, where he committed himself to learning flamenco and Spanish guitar techniques. The beauty and culture of the island was the main inspiration for his first album Plaza Caribe and largely influenced his second album Proximo. Daniel moved to Rochester, NY in September 2016, and began searching for musicians in the same genre. He was well-received in the local music scene and has since become a fixture in the city as part of Rochester’s premier Spanish guitar group, Daniel King Band.

Daniel King Band formed in 2017 initially as a trio when Daniel met local musicians Keith Dudinski and Steve Imburgia. The two guitarists and percussionist spent a great deal of time working on their musical chemistry while looking for the right mix of additional musicians to achieve their ideal sound. The band has since gone through several exciting iterations before becoming an outstanding full band, which now features Tim Forster on flute, Arjun Baxter on bass, Camila Ospina on vocals, and Tony Padilla on congas and percussion. With an all-star lineup of talented musicians, Daniel King Band brings listeners the beautiful, often tranquil, and frequently up-tempo dance rhythms of Latin music and Spanish guitar to any festival or event.

Performance History - just to name a few

“DANIEL KING - Riveting Latin rhythmic group with soulful vocals make it hard to not want to get up and dance to this talented group of musicians from the Rochester area. Because this music has been so popular with our festival goers in previous years, we are delighted to keep having them come back and join us in making this the most fun festival yet!”
